"When duty calls, will you answer?"

Nona is a human turned Mudkip, who finds herself lost in a world where her kind is only that of a whisper. After meeting and finding a place to stay with her two newest and only friends, it seems like she'll be safe at least until she can find a way to restore her memories and return home.

But something lurks just outside of her vision, something taking the form of a sweeping infection that sinks its claws into her new home and rattles it like a storm. Pokemon start going missing, monsters take form in the husks of the living, a dark haunting figure stalks the inner reaches of Nona's mind, and things begin to come to light that make her question just why she's really here. In a dangerous new world, Nona begins to wonder if losing her head would cost her more than just her own life.

Heyyyy been a while since last I’ve been here huh. I’ve been working on Drifting Away (now Dreamwalker) for the past few years on and off. I wasn’t able to keep posting it back when I first started, mostly because I realized that I hadn’t the discipline for it, and also because the story really needed more time to form in my head.

Through a lot of planning and work, I finally feel like it’s at the point where I’m able to start sharing it again! Updates will be posted bi-weekly hopefully with chapter art for each one (we’ll see how that goes). Thank you guys for the patience, and I’m really happy to be writing this again!!

Little late for pride month, but are any of your Dreamwalker characters LGBTQ? If so, what are their identities?

Hmm, well outside of Ignis being genderfluid, there aren't all that many that end up coming up or are apparent. I guess Gengar and Smeargle are both they/thems, but one of them isn't a big player yet, and the other is a background character, so they're easy to miss. I know I've always thought of Nona as a lesbian and Ignis as bi, but tbh I'm not entirely sure how they would label themselves, if that makes sense? And truthfully, all characters write themselves in some capacity. I could just as easily find that one of these ideas ends up not lining up with the characters as they meet the page, who knows?

But as they stand right now at this point in my writing, I've always thought Nona would probably describe herself as a lesbian, and Ignis would describe themself as genderfluid and bi. Ronan is a pretty young kid, so he has a lot of room to find things out about himself. If you asked him, he probably wouldn't know. I base him a lot off of my youngest brother, who hasn't really shown any feelings towards anyone.

But honestly, I think the best thing I can say for it is that all of those end up changing in some capacity throughout the story. Ignis and Nona are teenagers, and Ronan is a kid, so there's a lot of plans I've had floating around in my head for their identities and how they shift as they get to know each other and themselves a little better.

Will Nona end up figuring out attraction without feeling weird about the whole non-human thing? Will Ronan ever make a single friend? Will Ignis' gender fluid ever become gender solid? Find out next time on: taking on way more responsibility than is healthy. :)
