Movie Status Update - January 27, 2021
Hello! Progress has slowed once again now that we’re all back at school, but we’ve continued with making more character reference sheets and a few other small miscellaneous tasks. We are also starting the process of storyboarding the songs, so that will likely be our primary focus for the next few months.

This week we continued work on the music (both main songs and general soundtrack), as well as drafting more of the script. Some background art and references are also in the works.

Movie Status Update - November 15, 2020
We are back from hiatus! Most of us are still in school right now, so we’ve decided to take things a bit slower in order to put our education and mental well-being first. That being said, we are still making progress where we can, but we don’t anticipate any major steps forward until December. These update posts will be shorter and more informal until then.
This week, we looked at reorganizing the script somewhat to overcome a few blocks we were having. We have also made progress on a new song, and are beginning to look into working on backing tracks, animation, and VAs, although these are all in very early stages and nothing definitive has been decided yet.
We really appreciate all your support, and your patience while we do our best to progress during the school year.

Movie Status Update - November 29, 2020
Another short meeting this week, as many of us are pretty tired and swamped with school (for those of us in uni, we’re getting very close to exam time!).
Fortunately, progress is still being made; we have nearly completed the instrumental backing track to one of the songs, and the lyrics are written, so we are hoping to be able to record a demo of it soon. Writing is mostly on hold for the moment, but re-writes to Part One of the script are coming along, and the writing team hopes to be more active in December, once finals have passed.

Movie Status Update - December 6, 2020
We continue to make progress!
This week we finished a second demo song (as I’m sure many of you saw)! We’ve also more or less finished the re-writes to Part One, and are beginning discussions around how to organize storyboarding for a few early scenes and songs.

Movie Status Update - September 6, 2020

Many of us have started or are just about to start back into school this week, so we anticipate that progress on this project will be slowed somewhat in the coming months. Nevertheless, here’s a brief overview of our plan for the upcoming week:
Concept Art - Designs for Atlas and P-Body have been proposed, and will be undergoing some revisions this week. Turret designs might also have some tweaking done, but they are complete for the most part. The focus for artists this week (and likely for several weeks to come) is to keep practicing backgrounds and the Disney style.
Writing - Final edits have been added to Part 1 will be looked over by the executive producer for final approval. Part 2 is still undergoing individual revision by the original author. We had a meeting last week to go over comments for Part 3, and the suggested edits from that meeting will be added in this week. The team will then go over Part 3 again to ensure we’re all satisfied with the edited version, and then it will be formatted and sent on for the executive producer’s approval. Part 4 is now fully written and is undergoing some small revisions and formatting by the original author, and we will hopefully begin editing it as a group this week. Writing has begun on Part 5.
Music - Lyrics are nearing completion, and backing tracks continue to be in production.
Storyboarding/Animation - Since the script is still in progress, this team will be continuing to focus on learning the Disney style, practicing backgrounds, and helping with concept art over the next few weeks.
Here’s what we’ve managed to complete so far (items in bold are new):
- Even more concept art (which we will be sharing over the next few days/weeks)
- Finalized designs for GLaDOS, potatOS, Wheatley, Evil Wheatley, Chell, Cave, Caroline, the core trio, regular turrets, the oracle turret, the opera turret, and the crap turrets
- Proposed designs for Atlas and P-Body
- Official reference sheets for Chell, GLaDOS, and Wheatley have been completed
- Part 1 of the script is pending final approval
- A first draft for Part 2 of the script has been written and is being individually revised by the original author
- A first draft for Part 3 of the script has been written and is being edited
- A first draft for Part 4 of the script has been written and is being individually revised by the original author
- A first draft for Part 5 of the script is being written
- A first draft for Part 6, Scene 5 has been written
- Song lyrics are about 80% complete
- A backing track for one of the songs is now in production

Many of us are back in school now, so production will be slowed somewhat as we put our education and mental well-being first. Here’s a brief overview of our plan for the upcoming week:
Art Team - Designs for Atlas and P-Body have been revised, and the final designs will be completed this week. Virgil and Nigel will be making cameos (yay!), so we’ll be working on their designs this week as well. We will also be focusing on practicing backgrounds.
Writing - Part 2 of the script has been passed over to a second author, and Parts 1-5 are still undergoing writing/revision. Both team leads have been rather busy, so unfortunately, progress in this department is anticipated to be slow/halted until at least mid-to-late October.
Music - Lyrics are nearing completion, and backing tracks continue to be in production. A demo track for a Caroline song and some ambiance music has been completed, and a GLaDOS song is now in production.
*Concept Art, Storyboarding, and Animation have been grouped together into “Art Team” in these update posts since their goals are currently quite similar. Once each of those teams has a distinct task, they will reappear here as separate teams.
