“Why did I come here?”
When Bina explained to her family that she was leaving for California for a while she didn’t exactly tell them the whole truth. Yes she did leave for a few months but she was still in the country only under different circumstances.
Volunteering is what they called it. Bina taken to a place that looked nothing like modern hospitals. She had heard about it from an old acquaintance who was born human even if er father was a shifter; she had wanted to be just like them and was picked up by these people. That’s how Bina ended up here. They said there were others like her and they strive to help them grow stronger. It was hard to understand when she was born with her abilities, traits passed down from the bloodline, her power was natural not synthetic. For a moment she thought they were hunters, the same people destined to exterminate her kind but as they explained themselves it did paint a clearer picture.
They said they could fix her, make her better than the rest... Bina believed them.
Months went by it seemed, she lost count after only a week. Each day went as a blur and it seemed nothing was really changing with her. What was suppose to be a simple producer ended up on a struggle as to why not enhancements were showing up. Signs were not there during stamina testing, taking blood samples and even when she went back to her room at the faculty and would be faced with monitors as she slept. There were times she would hear them reference her as a pure-blood and the frustration that laced in their voices.
But it seemed there was a break through for them... and Bina. One minute she was felt dizzy and started to panic when she couldn’t move herself from the bed and the next thing there was a prick and things went black. The thing that woke her up was that her head started to hurt from all the voices, she could feel every vibration when she grabbed onto the steel bars of the bed. The over sensory was so much and as she caught her senses it was noticed that the nearest person was on the other side of the room, watching her.
She as back in her room and the doctor was smiling though she didn’t like how it looked. It felt like he was right in her ear and that he was practically stomping around her. The smell of bleach filled her nostrils with its strong odor, more so than before.
Then it all clicked as if it was some kind of obvious thing. For god knows how long they were intrigued with her but could not understand why ‘such an easy procedure’ had taken much longer. Her abilities were already more powerful than what they could have created... except for one thing.
While she had possessed a more detailed tongue than other humans now she could hear the man in white swallow, a full conversation of another subject just outside the door, could feel a pair of feet walking on the floor above. It was like every sense she had was on overdrive. Pandora... this place that just upgraded something in her blood that would have taken generations to master.
There is excitement, curiosity and fear. She could not back lash or retort with vulgar threats for what they did because it was her choice. But if there is one thing now, Bina wants to go home.
“So what do we do now... Doctor?”
