Hi! I see you reblog Veronica Mars stuff occasionally and I wonder if you’ve ever thought about a Fitzsimmons VM AU? (Hypothetically speaking, not in a fic prompty way.) I think about it sometimes just in terms of who would be who, and what plot changes would have to be made to account for Fitzsimmons. My main issue is I can’t fathom either of them treating the other the way Logan treated Veronica in early season one, even though some may argue Jemma was similarly horrible to Fitz in season two.
Anyway. Just curious about your thoughts as someone who appears to be a fan of both, as I am.
well, obsessive as I am, I’ve naturally mentally compared my primary OTP (FitzSimmons) to all my other OTPs and some ships, lmao, and thought about whether an AU would work for them.
I have very, very long since rejected a LoVe AU for FitzSimmons because the fundamental things that make up each relationship are too vastly different. neither of FS would ever clash in the same way that LoVe do - FS bicker, they don’t actively fight. it’s totally not the same. I often talk to my bff about how LoVe in a lot of ways is very different from the type of ship that is my natural catnip because they were genuine, serious enemies for a long time, and their love grows out of a completely different place.
making a FitzSimmons LoVe AU would require shoehorning both of FS into behaving in a way that neither would ever act, and they’d end up needing to be OOC in some way - and at that point, why? lol
so, I’ve thought about it before, and yeah, have summarily rejected it. no way to do it and keep FS IC, which is the most important part of any AU, imho. :-)
I also wholeheartedly and aggressively disagree that Jemma was “horrible” to Fitz at all in season 2 - she was doing the wrong thing for the right reason, because she cared for him and had no idea what to do in that situation - and is certainly not in any way vaguely comparable to the way that LoVe treat each other at the beginning of the show, which is driven mostly by spite, anger, and bitterness (for which they both had legitimate reasons, to some degree, even if Logan’s way of expressing those reasons was Patently Wrong). But that’s really neither here nor there.
