Recently on eBay there popped up a batch of new-old-stock Sailor pocket pens. Very reasonably priced. So I bought one, and this is what I got:
Yes, I inked it up! I'm the kind of person who feels sorry for stuff that doesn't get to fulfill its purpose. Sue me.
It's a nice writer. Slim and very light, with a soft, fine nib. I normally don't post pens, but posting feels right with this one.

This pretty thing just arrived yesterday. Pocket pens were all the rage in Japan in the 60s, 70s, & 80s, but it's hard to ID them beyond the brand. Platinum is one of Japan's "big three" pen makers, the others being Pilot and Sailor. I'm not a huge fan of Platinum's current designs, but I like the elegance of these older pens. And I'm a sucker for matte silver/gold finishes.
This one was surprisingly cheap. It cost me less than $40, including shipping, and it's got an 18k gold nib. Sure it has some scrapes and dings, but it writes fine, with a nice soft nib.

Been using my brass Hongdian M2 a bit. Definitely backheavy. Don't see myself using it for longer writing, but it is fine for shorter writing. I keep it in my pocket. No worries about damaging it.
the Majohn/Moonman Wancai fountain pen is not a bad little pocket pen. I got it in F nib. It's not the smoothest for sure but it's comfortable to write/draw with and it worked nicely straight out of the box with zero adjustments. I appreciate the huge ass ink reservoir and I like eye droppers in general. The cap screws on securely and the plastic(acrylic?) feels sturdy enough that I feel like I could actually take it with me for field sketching and not worry about it exploding. For $10 on Amazon? Great pen. 👍
Just bought a Sailor pocket pen, didn't look to have a date code, or at least not the two letter body codes, so I don't know how old it is.
It was pretty cheap, which is why I got it, I'm not even sure I can ink it since they never made converters for them. I haven't researched yet to see if the cartridge size they used is still made or not either.
Guess I'll find out more when I receive it in a week or so.
Anyone have experience with them and have advice?
