Well, they’ve definitely done that (assuming you’re talking about my OC apprentices from Good Grammar & Wizardry By Consent) because I’m 99.9% sure this is an early reference to ‘indoor tennis’ a.k.a. Pocket Quidditch, the game we see Peter and Lesley playing in Whispers Under Ground, which I bet got very lively indeed if they were doing it without any sort of safety gear.
(Mal totally tries to talk the rest of them into playing it without riot helmets and so on if Peter’s not around, by the way.)
