5th gen ipod classic, 256gb flash storage, 2000mah battery

formerly a black one that would have been perfectly fine cosmetically had it not been for the giant sticker plastered on the back and around the side. as with most ipods, it needed a battery replacement and while the screen looked a bit grainy to me initially, taking it out to do the front plate swap and putting it back in seemed to fix it!

you can do mods like this too! these devices are from the golden age of things you can easily get into and repair. i will always recommend ifixit’s ipod repair guides if you ever want to try something like this!

mini mods!! these are pretty simple once you know how to get into them.

both of them are gen 2 minis, which tend to have a slightly better battery life and have a "stable" storage limit around 256gb.

the blue one will be going to a friend, who supplied the pod for me. as for the silver one, it looks like i still need to format it for windows, but then it will be good to go!

you can do these mods, too! if you've got a mini lying around or want to buy an old, broken one off ebay, i always plug the ifixit guides.

dipping my toes into ipod modding/refurbishing, since there’s a ton of custom parts being made for these things nowadays. this is a 5th gen ipod with a new front and back, new battery, and 512gb of flash storage.

this one's going to be a gift for a friend, but i might start selling some once i get more practice. it's a fun hobby!

behold…the gothpod - 128gb flash storage + 750mah battery

yeah, the 4th gen doesn’t have much in the way of customization options. pretty sure the white and black face plates you can buy are aftermarket parts - which begs the question, why not more? it's a perfectly fine pod, although not as popular as its younger siblings. oh well.

i've also done a storage upgrade/battery replacement for a white one, which has since been claimed by a friend. i'd probably make a post for that one if i had taken some before/after pictures.

as always, i'll link the ifixit guide for this model in case you've got one lying around and want to do this mod yourself! this is a really good starter in my opinion - very easy to open and fewer/bigger screws for easier (dis)assembly.

i had originally planned to finish this one at the same time as the last one i was working on, but then i found out the screen needed to be replaced. fortunately, it wasn't too hard to get another one.

as always, i'll plug the ifixit guides if you want to try these mods yourself! i am planning to sell these at some point, but who knows when i'll actually get around to setting it up lol
