Let's talk about The Dead Authors Podcast from @826la and hosted by @pftompkins . I gotta say, #PodCrush again for Paul F. Thompkins. He sings, he does impressions, he improvs like a boss. I mean from Frank Doyle on Thrilling Adventure Hour, to his own podcast to all his miriad of characters on Comedy Bang Bang, which... I will come at you if you aren't willing to include in the list of best Bang Bang characters--he's just the best. But Tryer, you say, what is The Dead Authors Podcast, you say?? Okay, enough PFT love. Tompkins play H.G. Wells, who, aside from a burning hatred of Jules Verne, goes back in time, with the help of a time machine he found at a church rummage sale, to perform light kidnapping of dead authors to interview in the modern era. A semi-improvised interview with improv and comedy luminaries playing characters from Gary Gygax to Emily Dickinson--each doing between non-existent to in depth research. And all to raise money for 826 LA a non-profit assisting kids and teens with creative writing. Dead Authors comes in at under an hour an episode, and taped live in front of an audience between 2011 and 2015--ending after it's 50th episode. You'll laugh, you'll learn, you enjoy all the Wells vs Verne hate. If you like Paul F. Thompkins, learning about dead authors, and/or comedy and improv, then the Dead Authors Podcast is for you!
