28. Fic that you’ve read that you think went under the radar

This is an easy one!  @everyonewillsee‘s boyband AU:

Without you here, life is just a lie - OT4 - After five years as the world’s most popular boyband, PSA splinters, then breaks. It takes 12 years to get back together.

This fic is 48k of the most beautiful, plotted, well-developed OT4.  There are glimpses of individual relationships - the vietreau is beautiful and the jonjon breaks my heart - but it so deftly deals with the complications and intricacies of a true, poly OT4 relationship.  Plus, boyband is the perfect au for this codependent assholes.  I hadn’t really considered OT4 fully until I read this fic.  Everyone should have read it already, but if you haven’t do it ASAP.  Run, don’t walk, don’t pass Go, don’t collect $200 (do, though, leave kudus and comments if you can!).

29 for the meme?

Thank you for asking this one anon!  This is my favorite question in the meme, cause I think it’s the most important.  There’s a danger in any fandom - tiny fandoms like ours included - of creating a hegemony of fics at the top.  When new people enter a fandom, they sort by kudos or comments and read down the list.  Then they leave feedback on those fics, put them on rec lists, recommend them to their friends, etc. building a feedback loop that is near-impossible to break into.  The set of “canon” fics that comes out of this may or may not be the best fics in any fandom, and it definitely leaves out less conventional pairings, tropes, and styles.  

My only point is, read and rec widely!

The World Began in Eden by @everyonewillsee - Danlo, apocalypse ad reads! This fic kills me every time I read it.  So much emotion comes through the truly unique style, and the worldbuilding is so powerful

36. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

This is really more an AU than a trope, but I’ve always really wanted to write a competition show AU.  Maybe Lovett’s on Worst Home Chefs and Tommy’s a judge.  Maybe Jon, Tommy, and Lovett enter the Great Food Truck Rodeo and fall in love while arguing along the road.  Maybe Lovett’s a young fashion designer on Project Runway and Dan’s a persnickety judge.  Maybe Dan and Tommy go on the Bachelorette together and fall in love with each other instead.  Maybe in a dystopian future Lovett’s on a game show to pay off his family’s debts and Jon is the rich benefactor who sees him on TV and rescues him.

38. What canon PODSA event would you most like to see written about/write about yourself?

Lovett’s brief hospital stay in Texas.  I’ve written it into all the 2018 canon outlines I’ve come up with since March, but haven’t actually written any of them.  When I do write a 2018 canon something someday, though, this weekend will feature prominently
