I suppose a little introduction is needed while I am just starting to get addicted to tumblr. I am a highschool graduate working my way to university and I write a lot about music, love, religion, and life in general. My goals include going to University for Physiotherapy and joining the Canadian Military as a Physiotherapist in order to pay for Uni. Sounds hard, right? This summer has been very hectic so far, since I've just started a workout schedule with my best friend and we both plan to look great by Freshman year at Uni. This summer, to me, has really been a transitional period. Though I plan to go back a year in highschool before going into Uni, I feel that I've grown up and that I can be really self-reliant. I'm improving everything about me, from how I look, how I perceive life, and how I achieve general happiness. Currently, I am not the man I want to be as of yet. I want to be stronger, inside and out, I want to be successful and happy - I want everything. And the only way to express my desires, the only way I can express my feelings when achieving those goals is to write. I suppose that's a win-win situation for all of us. On top of Physiotherapy, I plan to also write books, whether it comes in the form of novels or poetry. I just hope I can do both with such a busy job.
As you've probably noticed, I tend to write minimalism and imagism poetry, two fairly new types of poetry compared to the age-old haiku and epic poetry. But the topics have centered around various experiences that I wanted to capture with words alone, such as my "How to pour wine", my "Dress" Series and my "White Sheets" Series. I like poetry that is sleek to the eye and ears, never wasting a single beat and note. I suppose my favourite writers are: Margaret Atwood, ee cummings, Joy Kogawa, Amy Lowell, and Gwendolyn Brooks.
My goals in the future is to fuse minimalism and imagism poetry with the rhymes of lyrical poetry. Also, I want to "graduate" from the amateur type of poetry that seems as if it were straight out of highschool english 101. My other writing goals include writing about politics, world issues, and other controversial topics - like Margaret Atwood. But I imagine that doing so in itself is a career in and of itself. I just hope that I find a time for all that passion I have.
