#poetic exercise

I think this one is self-explanatory. I started the year unfortunately with a flare. I started it at 3am this morning when I was trying to take my mind off things, but as you can see I couldn't stop thinking about pain etc, but it did distract me for a while.

Sentence

My body is the verb violence. A thesaurus of suffering- Just commas inserted between metaphors of pain. Punctuated by unending exclamation marks- No full-stops written.

My body is a sentence.

This dabble comes from an exercise "Write a poem that contains all three of the elements: a betrayal, soap, and a plane ticket"

Getaway

Plane ticket stuck with sweat to his skin, Concealing his escape. The bathroom door shuts out his face, Masking him and his reflection From all. The soap doesn't remedy Treachery, No matter how hard he scrubs. He will get away with it again.

Skin Suspect

My laughter leaks- I don't suffer quietly.

My finger follows a line, Tracing your paper-cut like cracks. Your soft subtle lines gently Split open under my fingertip Pressure.

I'm a suspect of your skin.

This dabble is about being in debt and not having enough. It's about how money, especially the lack of, is all consuming and takes up so much space.

Monolith

There is a lack in here taking up room- An excess of worthlessness impeding me. This monolith, invisible, insurmountable, Does not exist. An abundant evidence of nullity- This absent hindrance stands in my way.

I was watching Neighbours and a character was caught in an explosion. He survived but lost his memory. It got me thinking about how quickly and randomly our health can change and how easily we can be smudged out.

Paint

One pearl drop of paint on a canvas Energetically smudged by the Painter's furious thumb. My edges dim into other Colours- I'm imperceptible, Almost Gone.

If I kill you I may slake my want- If only for a scant moment, Rapacity always overwhelms And I prey.

The taste of your fat on my tip lingers, Forcing me to more- I am all mouth, All razor teeth and swallow.

I build cities from nothing, Lakes from my spit. Take my sweat and Curse me as I create the sun from my skin.
