The White Light
A white light burns
Steadfast
Turning my blue veins
Fluorescent
I saw the pulse beat
But it wasn't me
A parasite had taken over
Demanding attention
Feeding off me
I carried it on my back
A heavy burden
In the white light
Somehow I crawled away
In a hole with no light
Fireflies came and touched me
Gentle and inquisitive
Creatures from a forgotten world
But the white light
Was stronger
It burnt everything in sight
Not a bird lived
Neither the insects
No shade no life
Just the light
An artificial light
