The point light walker technique. It allows researchers to assess the movement of how a person walks without the presence of other variables. This link will let you adjust the model for male/female, heavy/light step, nervous/relaxed, happy/sad in combination to see how this is reflected in walking motion. Great reference for animators- even if you're not, it's worth a look. http://www.biomotionlab.ca/Demos/BMLwalker.html On a side note, studies have shown that they way you move tells a lot about a person, to the point that it may significantly influence your chances of being selected as a target for crime. I know that seems really obvious, but it's nice to know the science behind it. ;)
