A more serious post about my opinions on digimon vs pokemon
A lot of people think Digimon is just a ripoff of Pokemon but Digimon is actually very different. A good example of this is the fact that the Digimon kids are digidestined the Pokemon kids are Pokemon trainers. Pokemon trainer implies choice which is a fundamental difference that causes shows to be completely different in tone and premise. Nowhere is this clearer then the fight between TK and ken. You see, Ken who is going by the Digimon emperor believes that the digital world is a game and tries to bring back Devimon the main antagonist of the first arc of the entire series. In the first season the original Seven including TK we're transported to this world without wanting too making them have to survive without a reliable supply of food in a world infested with monsters. They did not mean to save the digital world that was never there goal they just wanted to go home, but devimon made it so they couldn't go so they had to fight him. In this fight Angamon the champion form of TK's partner Digimon has to use all of his power to get rid of Devimon making him have to turn back into an egg. Leading to this.
