I don’t have biological children of my own, but i am a former child And speaking as a former child, i have first-hand knowledge that children do not always do EVERYTHING that their parents teach/raise/tell them to do. I have goo gobs of friends and relatives who have children: Phd’s and no D’s. Afrikan-centered and some not. Some really, really not. Christian and not. One of the many things they all have in common are the faces they sometimes make, and the exasperation they sometimes feel, when they share with me the latest crazy thing that their children did, and how embarrassed they are about it. Sometimes they share it with me months and years later because it was just that embarrassing. Parents can only instruct/teach/pray/hope that what they teach their children will “stick” once those children are out of their eyesights and out of their homes. But for some strange reason, when it comes to the murder of Black youth by this white supremacist state, it is always partially a fault of bad parenting - genetic, cultural, aint-nuthin-that-can-be-done-about-it-because-they-are-born-that-way, naturally-inclined-to-criminality fault. It is never, ever, the fault of blood-thirsty white supremacy. Blood-thirsty white supremacy remains white - spotless, without blemish. Innocent. How callous, insensitive, offensive, insulting, filthy and stupid of people - not just white folks - to allow those words to come out of their mouths. Black parents who have lost children to state sanctioned murder, as well as white supremacist-induced murder (commonly called black on black) should not have to contend with such filth as they try to live their lives without their child. So please, if you know of folks who insist on parroting the conservative, anti-black narrative that “if parents had taught such-and-such better, this would not have happened,” referring to Mike Brown in particular, please, direct them over to me. I will hook up the video camera to the laptop That way, i can show them exactly WHERE they can shove that isht, and then draw them a map of where they can GO after they shove it. Holla.
