The border
From Polish source, TVN 24:
The current waiting time on the Ukrainian-Polish border can be up to 72 hours. Ewa Leniart, the voivode of Podkarpacie, assured on Sunday that the Polish government "is constantly trying to help Ukraine". These efforts also apply to this situation and people who are on the other side of the border - she added. Leniart noted that the Ukrainian side agreed that Poland should provide aid to those who stand in huge queues on the other side of the border. She stressed that sandwiches, basic necessities, mineral water and blankets are delivered to those who stand on the Ukrainian side of the crossing in Medyka.
Our reporter, Jerzy Korczyński, follows the situation at the crossing in Medyka from the very morning.
- Fortunately, we no longer observe such images as on Saturday, when mothers with children stood for hours. Now, many people are taken by buses to Przemyśl, where they are cared for and where administrative issues related to the further stay of refugees in the country are organized, the journalist reports.
As he reports, there are a lot of people there who want to help: they bring food, offer to charge their mobile phones, they bring blankets. The journalist notes that issues related to the arrival of refugees are better organized, for example, many more portable toilets have appeared near the border. This is especially important because the sanitary conditions on the other side of the border are very difficult.
Since the commencement of military operations in Ukraine (February 24), Border Guard officers have cleared a total of 187.8 thousand people at all border crossings with Ukraine, Including in the direction to Poland over 156 thousand. Yesterday, a record number of people were cleared - 88.4 thousand, including 77.3 thousand in the direction to Poland, the Border Guard wrote on Twitter.
