Mirror Mirror || Tara + Romy
Five hours was a long time to sit in a chair with baring anything covering your body, but it was a price Tara had been willing to pay. Along with the sizable cash donation to Connor’s bank account. She was stiff and sore and her skin was cold, but as she slid off the leather chair and made her way to the large full length mirror that sat across from the reception area, Tara didn’t so much mind the cold of her skin. The parts that had not just been abused by a sharp needle moving at speeds too fast for the naked eye were a welcome contrast to the raw heat that burned from the beautiful design. The dress she wore -black to prevent the bleeding of the ink from staining the fabric- was pulled up high, revealing a lot more of herself than people would typically be willing to reveal in such a public area.
The nice thing about sitting in a chair for five hours was that it typically meant you were put toward the end of the day. She was the last customer in the shop and one of the last people in there. Connor was flitting around like a crazy person, cleaning up the station while Tara took her time inspecting the artwork. The guy was a genius, but anyone that knew his work knew that. The others he employed at his shop were just as good, but she always went to Connor. He was the only one she trusted.
Her fingers ran gently over the humming bird on her hip, a soft smile spreading across her lips. She loved the hyper little creature. It was so perfect. Her eyes caught movement in the mirror and she startled. It took her a moment to remember that Connor’s newest employee was still in the shop. She’d known, but he was so quiet, he was easy to ignore. Until he was in her line of sight that was. She’d nearly dropped her phone on her way into the shop when her eyes had landed on him. She didn’t recognize him per say but there was something familiar about the piercing eyes that went with the intricate ink and piercings. She knew she knew him, but she didn’t know how she knew him.
“See something ya like, handsome?” She said sweetly to the image in the mirror before turning around to look at him. Her full lips, rosy and muted spread into a gentle smirk as she looked the guy over. It was annoying her that she couldn’t figure out why she knew him.
