Do you have any tips for drawing long snouts (like wolf snouts)? I’ve been struggling with drawing my wolf oc

i actually practiced doing this the other day!

Try to really envision the anatomy of the snout as well as the dimension of it. Like normal faces, snouts can have all different sorts of shapes!

I start off the usual way I draw heads with a circle and guideline

The vertical line is crucial for the placement of the muzzle

Then from the middle of the cross imagine a line jutting out like a stick

This is where the middle of the muzzle is

From there i kind of try to imagine the rest of the muzzle around it as parallel lines or even a flat square of surface area

Then you go and attach it to the rest of the face

Remember that the mouth will curve around the muzzle and the nose bridge is elongated

Everything else you can draw the exact same!

For front facing muzzles it’s a foreshortening exercise

You start the same way, but this time you can’t really see the extension line because its right towards the camera

So you just have to play around with it until it looks right

As always practice makes perfect and always try to keep the 3d shape of the character in mind
