Responding to an appealing call from Maciej Mroczkowski published in the weekly newspaper Przekrój in 1972, asking for help in bringing back some dogs from Ukraine (then URRS), Stanisław Czerniakowski of Warsaw was able to purchase and bring back to Poland two females named Tajga and Striełka and the male. Tajga and Elbrus became the parents of the first puppies born in Poland.
