Did you notice in File 1064 that after Rum told Gin that he knew the waves would wash Camel to Sea Monkey Island, that Rum also quickly called a yacht? How did that over so many readers heads? Only someone so wealthy or who has connections to wealthy people such as a famous shogi player or certain butler would either have money to get that or have access to it so easily. Do you concur?
The BO has always shown to be quite resourceful, whether it’s weapons or ways of transportation. I wouldn’t say it’s a unique Rum-specific trait that has to mean that Rum has direct wealthy connections himself (rather than the organization as a whole).
On the other hand however, we once again got to see how Rum speaks, and this time, it was even further highlighted that he has very polite speech style in Japanese, where he used the polite form of what was translated as “just as I thought” (”soudeshitaka” instead of ”soudattaka”), as well as using the more polite masu-form (”masu” suffix) on his verb here.
Gosho is further establishing the hint that Rum has a polite speech pattern, which is once again pointing towards and befitting Iori Muga, who speaks in an especially polite manner as a butler.
It’s interesting to note though that Rum is showcasing knowledge of Tokyo bay’s waves/currents, as if to be similar to a fisherman/sushi chef (Wakita), just after we recently had him showcase knowledge of the elementary school language system in File 1062, as if to be similar to an elementary school teacher (Wakasa). These are looking like intentional easter eggs of 2 out of the 3 main Rum suspects. I can therefore see us getting a showcase of Kuroda-equivalent knowledge pretty soon, in order to complete the “3 Rum suspects” easter eggs. This case might even lead to us getting another “3 Rum suspects” page in the resolution chapter (File 1066).
