A gardzę słabymi, gardzę sobą, jestem słaba.
For the ones who prove that “one picture is worth more than 1000 words” is not enough.
On Instagram, its all about the grid. With more than 300 million users, Instagram is now one of the most powerful social media outlets for brands, specially for fashion ones. Its no doubt that between the millions of pictures and videos posted each day, brands are looking for unique ways to get our attention. While the rest of us have been cracking our heads using VSCOCAM to get the perfect feed, fashion brands have stepped up the game. Take Jacquemus, an upcoming french designer, the most wanted bag of the moment Mansur Gavriel, and Nike Labs, who have been using Instagram just a little more creative than all the rest.
Jacquemus, the 25 year old french designer known for designs with the aesthetics of Comme Des Garçons, is all about telling stories. As designer who plays constantly with the ideas of uniform and repetition, its no wonder that his Instagram account reflects the same.
Sometimes, Jacquemus even posts the same picture three times, with not even a slight difference. Seeing our friend’s #selfie three times in our feed might surely lead to unfollow, but Jacquemus’s Instagram works as a whole. We get a peek into what inspires him, his lifestyle, and of course the clothing itself. The account not only features the eccentric clothes of the brand, but goes from selfie, to high fashion, and even emojis and messenger conversations. The overall feeling is more of a gallery, the story Jacquemus wishes to tell, and by using three pictures for each theme, the result is on brand and refreshing.
Then there’s Mansur Gavriel, the it bag of the moment. The brand got its big hit when all fashion editors and celebrities were spotted with the brand’s iconic bucket bag during fall 2013. Mansur Gavriel’s Instagram feed develops more as a storytelling mode. By showing different angles and views, we get to see the bags play more the role of a character in the world than of a product. This style of portraying the bags, gives each one of them a certain identity and background, to which customers can relate to. What is great about Mansur Gavriel is that it does not only use Instagram to fill us all with bags, bags, and more bags. There is a constant use of plants and fruits going on in all the feed. The pastel colors and textures make up a feed that is beautiful and pleasing to the eyes.
And then there’s Nike Lab. Innovation x innovators states on its Bio. The sneakers are shown in 3 angles, top, side and 3/4, adding up to 3 pictures for each shoe. The use of bold background color gives each row a big importance. By not featuring this innovative sneakers worn, it brings us into the feeling that each shoe is a special creation. The account also includes model pictures that look more as a fashion spread than advertising. Nike labs appeals to a customer for which all details of the shoe are important. Even the sole counts. This is not just any other shoe, we do not need to see any Lebron sporting them to want them. This is for the die hard Nike fans.
So do you need to start posting 3 picture stories on your account? Not necessarily. There are many creative ways to pimp up you Instagram, whether it is using filters, or maybe just sticking to a style or theme. The 3 picture works for this brands, what works with yours? 3 ways to get your followers to visit your online store
The day you post your first product on your online store one might expect to have an inbox full of orders. That can happen, if you just let everyone know. We share 3 easy tricks to do on Instagram to get your followers to visit your site.
Instagram lets you have a direct link to your online store. This is your store’s url. Its fairly easy to do. Go to EDIT PROFILE in your Instagram account. Your name, username and bio (where you write what you’re about) are there. There is also a row that says website. This is it. Just paste your store’s link, and you are all set. There is also this link from Instagram’s official page that explains it step by step.
Now that you’ve got someone to view your profile, well, its really easy for anyone to visit your site. @rvallinajoyas, a Mexican based jewelry designer, has a profile that is the perfect example. She states clearly what her profile is about, adds some contact information and the link to her store is popping in bright blue, just waiting for a visit.
Well yes, not everyone visits your profile that often. So how do you let your followers know? We take a lesson from Adidas originals, who is always on the hype with collaborations featuring Pharell and Kanye West. Whenever Adidas launches a new collection, the brand makes sure to get our attention with a great picture and adds the link for direct buy big and bright on it.
No photoshop skills required, there are many apps out there that let you add text to your photos easily. There is this list from TheNextWeb with 10 recommended apps to download, but our favorite is Typic, it has a great selection of basic fonts that can go with your brand and look good. You can download it from the app store here.
One more trick, always remind your followers to visit your link. No need to post a picture with your url on it. Stores have gotten a whole new use for the location caption that can be put in your photos. It-girl favorite C/MEO COLLECTIVE always reminds its followers that the link to buy is located in the profile. Also, the caption mentions the webpage to buy and the use of emojis makes it look pretty cool.
Brands are always trying to get their followers from Instagram to the BUY NOW action. With Instagram’s addition of the buy button coming soon, we’ll see how stores use the platform to drive more sales from their Instagram accounts.
