“Another Strike at the Polson Yards,” Toronto Globe. June 14, 1919. Page 08. --- Strikes again threaten the progress of work on ships in the Polson yards. On this occasion it is the ship carpenters and machinists of the Marine Federation who laid down their tools. The carpenters are asking for the same wages as being paid the general construction carpenters, and the same hours of work while the machinists are asking for an increase of wages from 68 cents to the conditions which pertain in other yards. If the strike is not settled shortly it is possible that the boilermakers and iron shipbuilders will be forced out of employment.
