Now Listening Naphta “Lys” (Peter Power Remix)
Nene Hatun spielt am 19. Mai '16 auf dem Klunkerkranich in Neukölln.
Polychrome Sounds: “We're delighted to invite you all to another polychrome day and night above the Neukölln rooftops. This month we're joined by our two dear friends Nene Hatun and André Pahl.
Having grown up in Turkey and Azerbaijan, Nene Hatun displays a wealth of oriental and Anatolian influences, while combining these with her own psychedelic expression through experimental electronics and beats.
Under her given name, Beste Aydin, she achieved notable acclaim as a classically trained pianist, yet her latest project sees her transform into a different creature altogether. Accessing a somewhat darker, transcendental state, her live performances as Nene Hatun evolve around a drum machine and synthesiser, woven together with enchanting live vocals and samples. This new embodiment sees her create a hypnotising and at the same time wonderfully physical sound.
Her live shows really are something not to be missed!
André Pahl is a cosmic adventurer, record-digger extraordinaire and worldly DJ. Seemingly always on the move, in search of new sounds and experiences, André cut his teeth in Mexico City’s lunatic music scene while living there for some years, co-running the label “Nuevos Ricos”. His sound tends to oscillate between psychedelic trips and voodoo percussion, exploring the slowed-down heartbeat of danceable music.
As ever, following the aural exploits of their guests, SpatzHabibi will round off proceedings with a rough-cut mix of eastern edits and hand-hit drums. Boom Bap!”
