hello, southeast queensland guy again with an id needed. so these ants seem to be pretty common here but it's been hard trying to find info, since green head ants and tiny house ants are more common. these ones are bigger than most black ants i've seen around here, about a centimetre long
bonus picture of their nest entrance in the gate, i usually see their antennae and feet poking through it bc they like to huddle there, it's very cute 💚
I'd put my money on Polyrhachis australis or similar!
