Będzie to subiektywna lista miejsc w Nowym Jorku, gdzie turyści raczej nie idą w pierwszej kolejności, ponieważ jest masa innych “must see”.…

Went over to Pomander Walk and snapped a few pictures. While adorable and different from a lot of New York City, it was a bit of a letdown for me. I saw this on so many “best photo spots in NYC blah blah blah”. I’m sure if you have the money they’re wonderful to live in, but they’re houses, that’s it. If it’s on your photography bucket list, consider adding a grain of salt and skipping it.
However, I will say seeing someone already has Christmas lights out (giant ones at that) when it’s TWO WEEKS to Halloween it inspires a WTF thought in my brain.
Pomander Walk Watercolor Art Print for sale on my etsy
I just keep striking gold this week in my readings for class! Today I had to read this essay about the cozy Pomander Walk in Manhattan. Aside from the beautiful pictures and references to Downton Abbey (automatically sold!), I really liked the arrangement of this essay. The pictures did a phenomenal job of establishing the tone of the essay and making readers feel as though they have been transported to this sleepy little town of a street. If only it wasn't so expensive, it sounds like an absolutely wonderful place to live...
Georgetown Walk, Part 2
So the other day during the rainquester, I went out for a walk in Georgetown. Yes, it was cold and rainy, and windy, but on the other hand I had the day (quasi) off (Professors never really have a day off). Again, I was doing one of the walks from the City Walks box. I started off near M and 30th st, and walked along M to 34th st, passing the Old Stone House along the way (one of the oldest houses in DC). I then turned up 34th st, walking past the Halcyon house (a house of a former secretary of the Navy, picture above), Cox's Row (picture above) and Pomander Walk (picture above). I then walked over to Tudor Place (a house museum), which I still have never been inside of, but I'll leave that for another day. On the way back to the car, I stopped off at Tugooh Toys (picture above) which is a great little toy shop on Wisconsin avenue, and picked up a few presents for the girls.
Georgetown is an area of DC, where I always find something new and different every time I go. This time it was Pomander walk which I had never seen before and is a cute little alley neighborhood off of Volta place. Great place to wander and get lost.
The Upper West Side's Pomander Walk is a secret block between Broadway and West End and West 94th and 95th streets. Its inconspicuous gate leading to the tiny getaway is lodged between two towering buildings. Pomander Walk was created in 1922 and named after a play called Pomander Walk, a romantic comedy set in "a retired crescent of five very small, old-fashioned houses near Chiswick (London)." The houses are a pattern of stucco, brick, and half-timber in design and kept in perfect condition with beautiful facades and gardens. Though nothing from Pomander Walk is currently on the market, the last two bedroom was sold for 700k.
