Cottage core meets Star Wars w/ Rex’s poncho? I gotchu! It’s a rainy day, kinda cold when Rex stops by (or comes home). He’s wearing the poncho to keep dry. Maybe he’s coming back from errands or maybe he’s visiting an old friend. They have tea and warm up by a fusion lantern.
not even gonna lie I had no idea what tf cottage core meant until tumblr and even now my understanding of it is very shaky but anyways
my soft-for-poncho-Rex ass couldn't stop this little drabble from happening
also: I see your drinking hot tea/getting warm by a fusion lantern and raise you getting Rex into a nice warm bath
The front door opens suddenly as Rex busts in, shutting just as quickly behind him. The incessant rain patters against the exterior, the thick and heavy drops sounding off upon smacking against the roof. Rex kicks off his boots at the door before pushing back the sopping wet hood of his poncho from his head - material colored in browns turned even darker when drenched. Water falls from his poncho and onto the floor in hefty droplets as he stands there with a warm smile upon seeing you approach with an oversized towel, not yet stepping further into the room until the soaked clothing is pulled over his head with the assistance of your helping hands.
The canvas bag you'd sent him to the market with - the one held dutifully in his left hand - is completely drenched just as the rest of his discarded clothing is. The fruits and breads had been wrapped up with the cloth provided by the vendors, which seem to have somehow held up in keeping the goods dry and fresh during transport from market to home.
"I, uh, didn't have a chance to grab some caf beans," Rex sheepishly admits - trading you the towel for the canvas bag.
You smile at him, pushing back the laughter that bubbles in your throat. A flash thunder storm strikes the area as Rex was perusing the local market, causing him to flee too early during his shopping escapade, and here he stands - his skin coated in droplets of rain and undergarments hanging heavy from the weight of the water seeped into the fabric - upset that he was unable to purchase the prized grocery item in your household, the golden ticket item.
You giggle - unable to take his serious facial expression of self-disappointment seriously.
"C'mon," you coo - taking his hand and leading him towards the 'fresher. You toss the sopping bag onto the counter as the two of you pass by the kitchen. "Let's get you into a warm bath."
