Sail - AWOLNATION I love imagining music videos for everything with this song. The beats have such ‘oomph’ to them. It’s heavy, catchy, and something else I don’t have a good word for.

A Demon’s Fate - Within Temptation I only recently found out that the album this is from was released along with a comic book?! About resurrected serial killers hunting for redemption and other serial killers?! I’m pretty much obligated to read that. Anyway, this is pretty fun to imagine with certain stories, too.

This Night - Black Lab Yet another song I imagine with a lot of things. Including, again, serial killers. This song introduced me to the game Masochisia (about a serial killer), because it was used in the trailer. I highly recommend it to people who like horribly dark, clever, psychological indie games.

Only If - Enya I love Enya so much, and I have since I was about 7. Her songs have this brilliant, sincere, ethereal quality to them.

Karen, Don’t Be Sad - Miley Cyrus I like some Miley songs, but I’m not actually that into this one (though it’s nice and all). I forget why it’s on my playlist.

Where Do We Draw the Line - Poets of the Fall I love Mark Saaresto’s voice, and this is one of my top favorite bands.

Killer Queen - Queen HELL YEAH. This song is so catchy, and Queen’s always good. For some reason, I enjoy imagining Belial from Angel Sanctuary to this.

Heal My Wounds - Poets of the Fall PotF again, and I like the sound of this song even more than the last. It’s dramatic and compliments Saaresto’s voice well.

Ghost Riders in the Sky - Johnny Cash Because it’s cool and you know it.

Miasma Sky - Baths Another favorite band that I only discovered months ago. I’m really into the ‘transcendental depression’ and the muted/subtle intensity of their songs. They’re both pleasant and harsh, electronic (which has the musical connotation of being ‘fake’ and new) and vocal in a sometimes choral, almost religious way (which has the musical connotation of being ‘sincere,’ deep, and old). I can barely mention Baths without launching into a long description of what I like about them. The way this song begins represents them well- he pleasantly trills, ♪Tall rock shelf, are you maybe here to help me hurt myself?♪, as lightly as if he were singing about a plan to have a picnic on a perfect day. The contradiction is jarring, and strangely nice.
