Eyes narrowed, Hermione stood rigid staring at the other. Her wand was hidden inside her robes, and her hands were limp by her side. She glared at the other with a hate filled expression. She could not believe this was happening. 

Her heart seemed to hammered widely in her rib cage like a frightened bird as she felt a thin layer of cold sweat appear on her skin. Surprisingly she was able to keep her breathing under control, but she could feel a bubble of panic start to form at the pit of her stomach. Her eyes shifted to meet the wide brown eyes of the boy in question. He stood rigid as well, frozen in place by the tip of the long knife held close to his throat. She could see that it was faintly stained brown. Hermione was pretty sure it was blood. 

Breathing deeply she opened her dry lips and with a forced calm managed to speak, 

              “ Let him go “

1. they’re underneath the ground, in the tunnels. it’s dusty an dark, and through she may look like she knows what she’s doing, brenda is terrified.  she just wants to be reassured that everything is going to be okay, even though she knows it isn’t. but her will overcomes her, and she’s wrapping her arms around him, hugging. she can feel her heart in her chest, speeding up. it shouldn’t be doing that. not around a boy, and especially not this one. but she’s not controlling her heart. it sucks. they’re breaking away from the hug then, and although she really doesn’t want to, she misses hugging him. and the feeling in her heart isn’t going away. it’s going to get annoying soon.

2. they’ve broken out of WICKED, and stopped for awhile at a restaurant. he’s angry with her. no, that’s not it. he’s not mad. he’s distant. he’s lost his trust, it seems. it sucks, but she can’t help it. what was she suppose to do ? tell him everything right from the start ? blow her cover ? get them both killed ? but although the points she’s making are very valid, she can’t help but feel a bit heartbroken. she knows it now. she loves thomas, probably more than she should ( especially with the teresa thing. ) even when he’s upset with her, she loves him very dearly. the love is trying to claw out of her an wrap around, but she holds it back. she can’t. she may love him, but he doesn’t love her.

3. it’s all over. half of everyone is dead. the other half are getting patched up in the corner, or limping around & helping others. she spots thomas, out by the cliff on his own, and follows him. she sits and talks to him, until there’s the silence. until he takes her hand, & she can feel the flood of him through her veins. ❛ there are over two hundred of us and we’re all immune. it’ll be a good start. ❜ what’s that suppose to mean ? his obliviousness just makes her smile as she leans in to kiss his cheek, and then his mouth. she knows it will be rocky, and that he may not love her as she loves him. but god does she love him. & she just smiles at him, hoping to convey this in her eyes.  ❛ nothing. nothing at all. ❜

4. it’s been a few years now, things have gotten settled in this new paradise. it’s getting cold, for some reason, and it’s a new feeling for everyone. the cold hasn’t existed in forever. brenda has declared this to be a holiday from her memories. christmas. she’s explained the whole thing to people, and preparations for the holiday are on their way. brenda is hunched over a clipboard, working furiously on the light arrangements. this was her favorite holiday when she was younger, & she isn’t going to butcher it. suddenly, there is an arm around her waist and a hand over her eyes. she immediately knows who it is. there’s complaining and threatening as she’s dragged away from her holiday planning, and it doesn’t stop until the hand is lifted from her eyes. they’ve walked a while away, to a small clearing in some woods. there’s a blanket laid out, and a small dinner. brenda can’t help but gape at the boy who’s standing to her side, looking mildly pleased with himself. & she knows, right then, that she couldn’t ever love anyone more than she loved him.

5. weddings aren’t common in paradise. it seems people just have children & move on to the next partner. so when thomas got down on one knee, brenda nearly flipped. & she had been flipping up until today. her wedding day. the day most little girls dreamed of. she’s hardly dressed for the occasion. they found her a white cotton summer dress to wear, and some of the girls put flowers in her hair. she feels prettier than she ever has, and nervous. she can’t place her finger on why she’s nervous either. she already knows she loves thomas. what is there to be nervous about. it isn’t until much later, after the aisle walking & jorge giving her away & the ceremony & the cake cutting, that she realizes what it was. it isn’t until they’re dancing together, as husband and wife, that she looks at him & realizes what it was. she was worried about him. that he didn’t love her enough to do this. & it isn’t until that first dance, when she looks into his eyes, that she realizes that he does love her. maybe even just as much as she loves him. & that just makes her fall in love even more.
