In case you forgot, Daki was BURNED A L I V E and was within an inch of death when she was turned into a demon - and even without any of her memories, she was still extremely pyrophobic.

Also Douma took advantage of desperate, impoverished children. (Are we really surprised though? This is Douma we’re talking about)
