EDM Is Killing All Other Genres!
I always found it interesting that hip hop fans have had their own feud within the genre for many years now. Their biggest complaint was that music was being made commercially instead of creatively; that I can understand. When you take money and put it before the art, it changes the reasoning for creating art in the first place and appeals to the largest population rather than a select few. You will rarely hear a rap song on the radio that doesn’t have singing or some meaningless verses. When it comes to sampling, the number of rap songs that have been remade is endless. Now, can the same thought apply to EDM music? How does a person differentiate between good and bad EDM music? If music is supposed to be something that evolves, can we really be mad that it is heading in a different direction than 20 years ago? I think what is most upsetting is the fact that it is the seemingly worst music that actually sells the most and makes the most money. Again, when profits are put ahead of the music, you can expect producers to create with the lowest common denominator in mind. http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2014/07/reader-writes-edm-killing-genres/
