Prompt 15 - Pumpkin Patch
@wolfstarmicrofic September 15, word count 363
Sirius, James and Peter stared at the destruction Moony had wrought on Hagrid’s Pumpkin Patch. Moony hadn’t left a single one of the vibrant orange squash intact. Hagrid was going to be distraught.
“Reparo!” Sirius didn’t think it was going to work, but it was worth a try. The smushed pieces of pumpkin bravely wobbled before turning to pulp.
“Glue?” James asked. Sirius shook his head.
“We need to destroy these more,” he sighed, pointing to the claw marks scraped into some of the larger pieces and the few wisps of silver wolf fur.
“What was it with him and these damn pumpkins?” James asked, completely perplexed.
“Who knows,” Sirius chuckled.
“He really was having a good time, though, wasn’t he?” Peter joined in Sirius’s laughter.
“He did look happy with that giant one on his head. It looked like a helmet,” James joined them with their mirth. They only stopped when they heard movement coming from Hagrid’s hut. Sirius had to come up with a plan and quickly.
An image popped into his head, and Sirius turned his most dazzling smile on James.
“Prongs, my old friend, you’re about to get very messy,”
Sirius and Peter watched from under the invisibility cloak as the stag trampled and chewed chunks from the pumpkins, blanketing the ground in orange.
“Oi, wha’ are yeh doin’?!” Hagrid yelled at the stag, brandishing a pink umbrella, and the regal creature with strings of pumpkin seeds decorating his antlers took off into the forest. Sirius and Peter followed after him. Sirius didn’t want to see a sad Hagrid.
They found James trying to brush the slimy guts of the pumpkins out of his hair. Peter helped clean James up, and then they snuck back into the castle before anyone realised they were missing.
They’d sleep for a few hours, and then they’d make their way to the hospital wing and hope that Remus was awake, not that that stopped Sirius. He’d sit for hours and watch Remus sleep. But today, he really hoped that Remus would be awake, because he couldn’t wait to see Remus’s face when he told him what Moony had been up to all night.
