Tallin Yaps About an Underrated Ship/Duo Because it’s Infested Their Brain - pt 2: Joel/Scott/Grian
Whatever you wanna call their dumb little polycule. I LOVE THEM.
TLDR:
Peskypoppy only had each other in winners space after LaL
Scottishbeans enjoyed being petty rivals and eventually grew to respect and care about each other
Gribeans is the ultimate bromance and they could slowly drop the b. I think all three should cuddle and bicker and then kiss and make up/out.
Below the cut imma talk about how I think they’d start liking each other and get together and a bunch of extra stuff if you’re interested but it’s very long :’)
On Grian’s side, I think he has a hard time with relationships. It’s not an unpopular headcanon that he has a lot of secrets. In my eyes, he feels bad about hurting his friends and partially blames himself for their suffering (even if he lwk enjoys his watcher powers sometimes, I could write an essay abt that sht istg). Anyway, one of the initial draws to Scott and Joel would be seeing them in the games, being not only resilient but loyal.
For Scott he would’ve Watched as he refused to follow the boogeyman curse cause he didn’t want to hurt his allies and take his punishment really well. On top of that, he’d always been a formidable opponent who could take a lot more than others.
For Joel, while he had been kinda a loose canon, he was super loyal to Grian until death literally did them part (in LaL and LimL especially). Grian would’ve seen Joel repeatedly fight until his last breath and just brush it off and keep moving throughout the first four seasons. If/when Grian hurt them, it wouldn’t break them, and chances were they would be willing to forgive him just a little easier.
I think Scott’s attraction to Grian would be one based in proximity. The Winners Space is a pretty common fanon location which would’ve been really lonely especially at first. Grian wouldn’t want to spend even more months alone sitting with all that he’d done so he’d definitely reach out to Scott and try to bond with him. With no one but each other, they would probably get pretty close and would be very forgiving of what the other did (for better for worse). Also, whilst scrolling the peskypoppy tag I saw a post about how they both enjoy making games for their friends and YES they would totally work together. Maybe Scott even helped with some ideas for the Games. I think Grian’s watcher-ness would’ve come out at some point and Scott would offer to help bargain with the Others to make the games a little less torturous. Maybe that’s why he didn’t want to follow the soul bound thing. He knew what they were doing and didn’t want any part in it.
As for the scottishbeans origin, I think he would’ve found Joel’s rivalry with him kind of entertaining. He and Grian were pretty sure he was just doing that without much external influence which was both annoying and genuinely interesting to Scott. My read of Scott (that was definitely not influenced by the character he played in vsmp) is that he tries to be very unbothered and cool and as much as he likes when people precive him thta way he also likes that Joel gives him an opportunity to let lose. Once he does let lose, they both have a lot of fun fighting eachother. As an added bonus, at lot the Watchers enjoy their fights even though it’s not fueled by negativity. The better fed they are by non-negative emotions, the less they’ll make them suffer. As the series progressed, they would get closer outside of fighting and find that they actually enjoy the others company and sense of humour. They still bicker sometimes but like they bicker and cuddle at the same time so yk.
And finally to cimplete the polycule, Joel. I think Joel could just TELL Scott was putting up a bit of an act, latched onto it, and suddenly Scott was on his mind a lot more than he’d care to admit. He hated how no one else could see it and even if they did they didn’t care. He hated that he was beautiful and caught the attention of half his servermates. Not that he would’ve noticed how beautiful he was swihtout soemone telling him of cource. Slowly his thoughts would get less and less negative and he would fight the positivity until he literally couldn’t anymore. It would go from annoyence to respect to “hatered” (admiration) to admiration and affection that was no longer begruding. Joel would probably be the last person to starting dating the other two simply because he didn’t want to admit he did like Scott.
Gribeans is so the kind of pair to makeout passionatly and then say “no homo”. They would’ve had a bromance for the LONGEST time before slowly dropping the “b”. It might’ve kinda started when Grian and Scar allied with Joel and tried to keep him safe unlike the Red Army who didn’t stop his house from burnig down. After that in LaL he knew Grian was a good ally so he kept killing his and aligning with him only for them to get un-redded. They saw eachother as someone to fall back on. Skipping to LimL, Joel is very loyal to his team. I think this is the point where he sats “kissing the homies good night” and bromancing Grain (and lwk timmy but thats not the focus; Having Joel being attracted to you runs in the family) As the series keeps progressing, they stay in their little bromance and keep falling back on eachother when need be. After Joel’s win in WL, Grian finally tells him about being a Wacther and while it takes soem time ot get over being lied to, they do feel more comfortable around eachother now that the cats out of the bag and suddnely, the polycule is complete and they all make out and bicker and are custey. (the winners are like 90% polycule imo)
