Gotta say, if they're trying to put a sibling-like dynamic between Poppy and Oliver, they're doing a shit job at it.

Like, c'mon! The picture below was posted by Mob Entertainment on Valentine's Day. Not to mention that the speedpaint video is set to songs like Bernadette by IAMX.

-grabs you by the throat- doey and proto being opposite ends of the spectrum of love w poppy.  poppy trusting doey to listen to her even after nearly TEN YEARS of silence (it is incredibly important to me that she acts so unquestioned in SH. she ran that place!) and doey (once. ((still.)) trusting her enough to put his fate in her hands. proto eliminating all of our enemies but all of poppy's allies. proto letting poppy know it was him behind all of it. proto knowing just how much responsibility poppy ascribes herself and then using that against her. the difference between supportive and gentle vs. harsh and inescapable. she ran from both of them yes but only one of them she willingly returned to.

proto was so fucking jealous of doey man...like i do not have anything to back this up other than proto strategically isolating poppy so it's Just Him And Her + proto deeming the prison WORSE when it's not even running anymore, likely due to SH's existence but like. you get it you get the themes. a place in playtime rebelling His rule and Poppy's soft place to land that Isn't Him. no wonder he blew that place sky high

What do you think about Poppytype?

I love it. Both as a name describing the full breadth of their relationship and as a ship name. While I wouldn't necessarily say I ship them, like, I want them to have a canonical romantic relationship, I REALLY enjoy the love-as-motivation Proto's got going on. I love that everything he's doing is breaking Poppy's heart while also being for her, I love the intersection of obsession, fury, betrayal and tragedy. Their weird dialogue at the end of 4 stole my heart. Poppy's rage and huge sense of betrayal at someone who's only been our enemy, and the strange way Prototype's words, which would've been affectionate from anyone else ("You don't have to play at being stronger than you are. You can come home."), sound SO threatening was SO good. And they're such good foils!

Poppy's theme of atonement and doing the most good is in sharp contrast with Proto's god complex and his apparent cruelty. Their differences are made all the more fascinating with how Poppy's so willing to throw anything and everything to stop him, while he (almost matches her best for beat in that aspect) wants to isolate and imprison her. She's terrified of him, she loathes him, and they've got history. It makes me so desperately curious to what their relationship was.

My personal theory / headcanon is that they were friends during Playtime's heyday, and that THOJ was a plan created by them, which is why Poppy feels so much guilt. (I doubly love poppytype for the pattern of Poppy betraying or either being betrayed. Proto betrays Poppy, Poppy [intentionally or forced] betrays Doey, either way, she runs forward and tries her damnest to not look back until the past catches up with her.)

It's part of the reason why I hope Elliot1006 isn't true, though most of that because of the sheer stark heel-turn it would be from displaying Elliot as kinder than his executives. But yeah! I fw them heavy. Their entire relationship and respective characters are some of my favorite aspects of the game!

ProtoPoppy antis will never cease to bewilder me because the ship is kind of already something that can be defined as "darkship" and yet they draw the line at "Le InCeSt!" Incest that's not even confirmed by canon or non-canon material and only exists in their headcanons btw.

The Prototype's feelings for Poppy are not as familial as the fandom thinks they are. And if they are, it is fair to remember that Husband and Wife are also family.

Speaking of husband and wife, In The Motives For One's Humanity, Love-As-Motivation Meaning for 1006 aside, The Prototype is in Adam's position. With poppy flowers growing on his arm. Which is kinda made of bones. Wouldn't that make Poppy the Eve to The Prototype's Adam?

If he wants Poppy to embrace what they both are, and if he could get her to do that, Then it would open the door for her embracing him as her "other half" as well, so to speak. Since in his eyes, They're two halves of the same whole.

Also in the 2026 new year art where The Prototype's holding a poppy flower, it could be pretty easy to think that he's trying to lure Poppy closer. But it is also fair to remember that his fingers are so long and spindly. So, The poppy could have slipped out of his hand. So, it could also be likely that he's trying to romance her.

Oooh boy, things get shippier with The Prototype's feelings for Poppy the more I think about it.

the hysterical thing is that i was about to squint at this bc i don't entirely see them as husband-and-wife in love, but then MOB decided to drop the valentine's day post on our heads LMFAO. I DO see what you mean w the adam / eve comparison! They're each other's half for better for worse. and absolutely yes to the new year's art, I think that was proto trying to be sweet and failing (someone theorized that it's when Proto found Poppy before he cased her!)
