Past:
Growing up in the McCormick household was hard for the youngest child, Bailey. She was jokingly referred to as an oops baby the first part of her life but after the tragic loss of her mother that joke no longer felt funny. When Monica McCormick was killed in a robbery, her husband James was left with the substantial task of raising their two children on his own. As if that man had not already been cynical he felt responsible for Monica’s death to some degree after forcing the woman to go back to work after Bailey was born.
The young girl struggled in the house with just her father and older brother. Will was an amazing big brother, making sure she was taken care of before and after school since James worked for the Detroit police department. Even though the man worked a desk job he was gone long hours at a time putting that heavy burden on his son some days. Nevertheless, Will loved his little sister and saw a great deal of their mother in her. He knew Monica would want her daughter to grow up happy and healthy so the boy did everything he could to see that happen. Not only did he make sure she was brushing her hair and teeth before and after school but he tutored her so her grades stayed high. That seemed to be the only focus James McCormick had at that point – get an education so he didn’t have to continue to take care of the children.
Will stayed at home through college and helped pay bills, taking some of that stress off his father and he needed to make sure Bailey was still being treated right. With work and school though his time became more and more precious and by time he was ready to graduate Will was only at the house a few hours at a time. The summer in between 8th and 9th grade Bailey would meet a handsome young man named Sean Flannigan. Sean wasn’t too much older than Bailey but his story struck a chord with her since she struggled to see eye to eye with her father. Sean wanted nothing more than to run away and easily convinced the young girl to leave with him. Even though she loved her brother he would be graduating college soon and Bailey felt a pull away from him thinking he needed to finally have his own life. That and she was sure she was in love with Sean.
The night Will was to graduate James and Bailey would fight. He told her she was too young to have a boyfriend and that she needed to focus on her schooling so she would be able to go to college and while that may have been good and true advice that man lacked all ability to communicate with his only daughter. Without another thought Bailey packed a bag, leaving with Sean. The only thing she asked is that she could watch Will cross the stage – hiding in the background she saw her brother get his degree and the two disappeared to sunny Southern California where Sean had a carefree, fun-loving aunt who cared less if they were in school.
Life went from what she thought was bad to what she knew was bad as Sean slowly fell in to the destructive lifestyle his aunt was leading, pulling her down with him. Drugs, booze, and parties became second nature and before she knew it the using turning in to running. Half the time Bailey wasn’t even sure who they were working for but as long as they were high it didn’t even matter. For nearly a decade that is what her life consisted of. Sean was definitely not the man she thought he was all those years ago and her desire to see Will again started to grow stronger. After asking Sean if he’d be willing to go back to Michigan, her longtime boyfriend and lover agreed stating there was one more job they could do to have enough money for the trip. Tired from the drugs and the constant movement Bailey sat in the car while Sean worked his magic. In a dream like state the girl’s eyes shot wide open unclear if the noise she’d just heard was a gunshot. Running from the car to Sean’s side he was dead and the person he’d been talking too had disappeared. Unsure what to do she saw a man in a suit approaching. In tears she begged him to call for help and he flashed his badge. Thinking she was safe she told the cop what she knew but before she even had a chance the cop zapped her with a stun gun, gagged her and threw her in to the trunk of Sean’s car.
Hazy, when she finally awoke, Bailey was tied to a chair in a rusty warehouse near the water. She heard voices in the distance but her vision was still blurry and she ached everywhere. All she heard from the male voices were the words ‘Did you get your fill?’ and ‘Dump her’. In a panic Bailey struggled free from the ropes and has been on the run ever since.
Present:
Four years later Bailey still struggles to remember the events of that night. Everything blurs together and her only desire beyond that point was to stay away from the cops and find her brother. Calling home lead nowhere and she remembered the neighbors name and gave them a try being informed that her father had passed away and that her brother was now a cop out in California. The young woman took to changing her appearance as frequently as she could, still using and selling when she could. The drugs were her only source of income. She is still searching for Will in the hopes he is not like the other cops she’s encountered but the longer it takes her to find him the more paranoid she becomes. Connections:
Will McCormick: Bailey hopes if or when she finds her brother that he will be willing to help her. She isn’t even sure what she needs help with anymore. The details of the night Sean died have started to blur together and the paranoia she feels each time she seems a police office is surmounting. Bailey has no idea Will has spent the last 14 years searching for her and doesn’t know he is a parole officer and not a detective. All she can hope is that he is trustworthy and still loves her the way he did when they were children.
Bailey has no other connections due to her life on the run.
The role of Bailey McCormick is TAKEN.
