In the Darigan Citadel, the military academy Akassuni attended had a few peculiar extracurricular activities. She, herself, had been part of one that most everyone simply referred to as "patrolling"--the entire deal was something like partial police training in the off chance that, for some reason, one could not or decided against going into the military after schooling, they could join the Darigan Police Force. Along with the bits of police training received they were employed to help the force with various tasks such as patrolling the Citadel at night, tracking down potential criminals, taking care of records, and whatever else the force felt like dropping on the kids.
But there was a lot of patrolling.
Akassuni, as part of that patrolling, was not used to going to bed until around midnight or even later, as she spent many of her post-class nights walking about the Citadel as she had for the past couple of years. Sometimes things happened, other times it was simply peaceful strolling about at night and a good way to clear her head. (And, once in awhile she ran into a Gelert with a couple of scars on his face that she had a sneaking suspicion had something to do with a couple of arsons that happened now and then, but she had no evidence for that.)
However, having moved to Neopia Central she could no longer do that. But if she tried to go to bed any earlier than normal--or worse, not walk around for at least an hour before bed--she ached and couldn't sleep. So she took it upon herself to plot out a route for her to "patrol" every night. And she walked that same route every night, unless the weather was that bad or there was some strange occurrence that prevented it.
It was merely coincidence that she happened by one(if not more) of her classmates' houses every night, simply marching along, occasionally looking about but mostly keeping her gaze forward as not to miss any turns or get lost.
And it wasn't her fault if her hooves made enough noise for oversensitive Lupe ears to hear.
