During yesterday's visit to NY's Diamond district we had the pleasure of playing with this stunning #portaitcut diamond. A portrait cut also known as a lasque is an old Indian cut in which the diamond is cut in the form of a slab or sheet. They come in different shapes such as a rectangle or square with polished upper and lower surfaces and simple facets on the sides. The diamonds were originally used to cover miniature paintings and thus became known as portrait cuts. The cut was popular in Russia.
