The man suspected of shooting and killing a racial justice demonstrator Saturday night has been identified as Benjamin Jeffrey Smith, 43, of

local folks are doing great work, my guess would be police are angry protesters don't want to talk to them (would you, after the beatings and the teargassing and their blatant incitement of violence towards protesters, and their continual refusal to do their jobs at all even for nonprotesters because they are pupset that people hate them for being violent and useless?) and that they are desperately trying to find reasons to maximally charge the person who shot back. the continual rhetoric about "gun violence" rather than focusing on the killer's actions makes me think the framing will be that this was a mutual violent confrontation even though the murdered woman and other who were shot were unarmed and trying to deescalate
