see, i thought that too but looking back in SI 1, logan is visibly surprised to hear that matthew and cindy had an open marriage. this supports emotional affair. but later, when they talk about nico, cindy’s like ‘do you hate me for it?’ (logan says no, that she should be happy).
cindy also says ‘some people like secrets. makes it more thrilling’\her eyes flick to logan\ logan says, ‘if it werent for secrets, we’d be out of a job’
and then later, logan says ‘bad beginnings lead to bad endings’ (hmmm???)
i think logan was surprised about the open marriage bc he thought cindy wasn’t cheating on her husband anymore. the narrative says that he pales slightly at the open marriage revelation, almost like when you find out your ex is with someone else now.
then there’s the fact that its very easy for logan to have an undefined relationship with the mc--he never asks for more. logan who can commit to his highschool sweetheart all through college. he lived with her, he probably would have married her had she not bought a cactus.
going back to the mc, i think he’s fine with having an undefined\fwb relationship with the her bc he’s (maybe) done it before with cindy. he’s not in the habit of asking for more bc he’s never been in a position to. he takes the mc’s lead and is super surprised when she kisses him at the end of SI 1.
in SI 3, he tells her that they drank a lot and made out at the bar and he’s like ‘we dont have to make a big deal about it’. meaning they’ve made out tons of times before, SOBER, and then they just keep going about their day.
I think logan fucked up one time (toni) and then was like ‘i will accept any affection, no strings attached bc its what i deserve for fucking up and i wont ask for more bc i have built an island around myself and thats a fine way to live no partners no associates just me myself and i
