I KNOW, i know i just asked but i can't get this idea out of my mind!
Remember the Rollo x time traveler fem reader i asked? What if, that reader was an avenger and was a close friend of Thor and Loki or even Valkyrie? And when she realizes that rollo, ragnar and others are vikings, she is like, "Oh, I know your gods, i have met them."
Or even better, thor and loki time travels along with the reader? Just imagine how the vikings will react!
Title: Friend of Thor
Pairing: Rollo x reader
Notes: The reader is an Asgardian that was raised on Earth and speaks both Asgardian/Old Norse and English. She’s gifted with the power to manipulate the Earth’s weather, connecting to Thor’s lightning powers. Sorry this took so long but there were so many aspects to incorporate, and I wasn’t sure how to do that.
Summary: The reader, a fellow Asgardian and friend of Thor and the new King of Asgard, Brunnhilde, falls through worlds as the new guardian of the Bifrost tampers with the magic.
One moment, you were laughing with Thor and Brunnhilde, trying out Stormbreaker and the other, you stood in the middle of a hall filled with raucous laughter that silenced as they all turned their heads to stare at you.
As you heard the sound of several weapons being drawn, your grip around Stormbreaker tightened and you willed your free hand to relax, ready to summon wind or mist, something that would cause a distraction.
Suddenly, a man at the far end of the hall called out. “Stop!” he said. You were confused as you recognized your mother tongue. “Can’t you see the sigil she is standing on?” he continued.
You looked to your feet, instantly recognizing the burned wood that created the intricate footprint the magic of the Bifrost left.
“Who are you, and where do you hail from?” a man asked. He was tall, with broad shoulders and faint pink scars running across his cheekbones.
“I am Y/N L/N, of Midgard and Asgard.” You replied. He arched an eyebrow as everyone around you began to murmur and whisper.
“You claim to be from the home of the Gods?” the woman sitting next to the man asked.
“I-, yes, technically I am from there.” You replied.
“Why technically?” the man asked.
“Well, not many people worship them anymore. Who are you people?” you asked.
“We are Vikings!” the tall brunette man exclaimed. A cheer went up around the hall.
“Oh shit. The new guy really doesn’t know what he’s doing.” You laughed.
“What do you mean?” a woman to your side asked.
“There was a war, they called it the Infinity War later. We all fought to protect what was left of our home, but it wasn’t enough. Many great warriors fell that day, including Heimdall and Loki.”
The hall was silent now, everyone staring at you with wide eyes and a hint of fear.
“What you speak of is Ragnarök.” A short, blonde woman said. She wore her sword with such pride that she could’ve been a Valkyrie.
“No.” you laughed. “Ragnarök already happened before that. Thor, Brunnhilde and I fought with many others on the rainbow bridge that day.”
“I cannot believe what you are saying, though the sigil of the Bifrost is at your feet.” The woman on the throne said.
“Neither can I, what happened was a great tragedy and yet…” you trailed off. “How can I prove to you that I am a friend of Thor?” you asked.
The man on the throne shrugged. “You choose.”
And so, you let the force of the sky and earth flow through you, summoning a strong wind that blew out the fire burning in the pit.
A man with wild eyes clapped, sniggering as he put an arm around you and pulled you to a table. The feast resumed but people clamored to ask you questions.
Soon, your head was spinning with new names. Floki, Torstein, Ragnar, Aslaug, Lagertha, Porunn and Björn. The man with the brown hair was called Rollo. He wore an amused smile as the questions would not wear off and you grew more and more exasperated.
…
The next day, you were back in the hall, drinking with warriors and shieldmaidens. It reminded you of more peaceful times in Asgard when the dangers of Hela or Thanos were far away.
Suddenly, the doors swung wide open, and a tall man stood in the doorway, accompanied by a lithe but equally tall woman and… a racoon.
“Thor!” you exclaimed, jumping up from the table. All heads turned to see the newcomers, but you got up and ran towards him, barreling right into your best friend.
“My king.” You exclaimed, doubling over in bows. Brunnhilde smacked you on the shoulder.
“Stop that you’re embarrassing me.” She mumbled.
You looked down to Rocket, who stood there with crossed arms. “Ya really had to ruin that mission on Xandar, didn’t you? I was about to buy a really nice eye when she bust in and said Thor needed to help his friend.”
“I’ll get you a another one.” You promised.
“Is that…” Lagertha trailed off, not knowing what kind of animal was standing in front of her. “bear talking?”
“I’m a racoon, missy.” Rocket replied and you tried not to laugh at him calling Lagertha ‘missy’.
Everyone in the hall was talking over each other as you turned to look at Ragnar for help, who was sniggering at your misery. You glanced over to Rollo, who took a sip of his drink with an amused smile.
Suddenly, Floki clapped his hands. “The God of Thunder is here!” he exclaimed “let us feast loud enough to rival the crash of lightning and thunder!”
A cheer went up around the hall, and people began to make space on benches. The constant worry that had taken hold in the faces of you and your friends seemed to lighten as you were reminded of the older days.
Soon enough, Brunnhilde sat between Porunn and Lagertha, laughing as if she was with her old friends, the Valkyries that had fallen in the wake of Hela’s chaos. You saw Thor smash his cup to the ground, demanding another, which Torstein and Bjorn happily supplied. Even Rocket seemed content as he showed Ragnar his weapons and reluctantly let Ubbe pull on his tail.
You heard Rollo walk up behind you before you turned around to see him. “It seems you spoke true about your friends.” He smirked.
“Why would I lie?” you replied.
“It bought you many favors.” He said. There was a short pause. “So… you and Thor?” he asked carefully.
You almost choked on your drink. “Oh gods no! He’s like a brother to me.” You glanced at Rollo, who was leisurely refilling his drink, smiling.
Oh.
“But you aren’t.” you said. Gods, my flirting is way rustier than I thought. Now, it was Rollo’s turn to have his oh-moment.
“I’d love to take this outside but it’s raining.” He said.
Now it was your turn to smirk. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.”
