I like my job.
Since January I've been working for this company and get to do so from home. But I recently started working in-office for a few hours on Wednesdays -- at the suggestion of my boss -- to usher projects forward and keep the ball rolling. It's been going well so far.
I learned today that the company invented the pull-chain light switch, way back in 1896.
We're coming down to the final stretch on a 60+ page catalogue/brochure for which I was project managing in addition to authoring, and everyone's happy with how it's shaping up.
My boss remains enthusiastic about my desire to travel, and will be doing the same for six weeks, between trade shows and then his own travels.
For the second time, he told me he's bringing me to LightFair next May to shadow him, where he plays coordinator for the company at trade shows.
He laughed and said once that's out of the way, he's sending me out on my own to coordinate all future trade shows. Someone send a documentary crew.
(Project management and event coordination are not things I'd throw myself into, but I'm happy my boss is offering these challenges with expectations that I'll succeed).
Then he ran to his office to return with -- get this -- a pink Nike golf polo with our company's logo embroidered on it, which I am never going to wear.
I'll probably send it to my mom so she can do that mom thing where she wears it and tells people "this is where my daughter works!"
I recognize the importance of enjoying and appreciating my work situation at present. It's a welcome break from the past.
