Ingredients For Success: Positive Thoughts. Positive Surroundings.
In the world we live in today it is really hard to remain a positive person. Overall I would say I am generally positive with an optimistic (yet realistic) outlook on life.
I credit this to PTPS (Positive Thoughts, Positive Surroundings). It’s a pretty basic concept. Think positive thoughts, and surround yourself with a positive environment. The concept itself is basic but putting that concept into action can be a bit of a struggle, even for the people that seem to be the most positive. Mastering that step of putting it into action however, is definitely the key to success when it comes to making life changes.
I am a very social person by nature, friendly and affectionate. That however is not always a good thing. There are some people in the world that are just bitter. Bitter for no reason or maybe the actually have a valid reason for being mad at the world and they don’t care if you had nothing to do with why they are mad. Every now and then you will come across these people. They could be a coworker or a friend of a friend. They could even be someone you’re related to! When I come in contact with one of these bitter people my friendly social side automatically shuts down. I just try to avoid having the negative person and their energy in my space. It took time for me to accept that sometimes you can’t be friendly with everyone.
Why can’t you?
Well for one it can be draining to have negative people in your space. You keep putting out positivity to combat their negativity and eventually you just get drained! Secondly, you can become a product of your environment. If you are constantly surrounded by negativity without a space for retreat, you can eventually succumb to that negativity.
That being said, I am very selective of who I spend time with, where I spend my time, and how I spend my time. My friends I spend the majority of my time with are positive people that inspire me everyday with their lives and experiences. I’m not big into going to nightclubs in my downtime. I’d rather go to a museum or create an art piece. I spend my time with people that motivate me to be better. I spend my free time doing things that keep my creative and positive energy flowing. Those things in turn make me a better person. Fuel for the evolution of Krystal!
So ask yourself this….”Are my surroundings positive?”
Do you have friends and family that are supportive and nurturing with their thoughts, words, and actions? Do you spend your free time in places that reflect the best parts of your personality? Do you have healthy habits that put you on the path to living your best life?
If the answer is no to any or all of those questions, then it’s time for a change. You will never get to a happy place if you are constantly surrounded by toxicity (toxic people, habits, and places)
The same goes for your thoughts.
The “PT” in PTPS stands for positive thoughts. You are the first person to hear whatever you say about yourself or anyone else. Good or bad, we as human beings often times believe our own hype. So we should try to be our biggest fans but still aim to remain humble. Constantly downing yourself will eventually have others see you in that light. I mean if YOU think you suck, then why should I think any different? You know you better than I do!
It’s after 2am as I am writing this post and I’m getting sleepy so I will wrap up. Try your best to put PTPS into daily practice and watch your world change little by little. It could be as simple as changing what you watch on TV and listen to on the radio (the radio can be sneakily subliminal) to cutting back on hanging with that catty friend. Its worked for me, maybe it can work for you! Just one of my ingredients for success!
