Textual Analysis Detail
The two films I have chosen to do my textual analysis on are Nowhere Boy and Jersey Boys. The reason I have chose both these films is because I am very passionate about music and biographical films are my absolute favorite type of genre of film.
I plan on creating a short 2 minute film influenced by the representation and narratives of ‘Nowhere Boy’ and ‘Jersey Boys’ . In my short film I plan on putting in aspects of ‘Nowhere Boy’ and ‘Jersey Boys’ narratives by basing my own narrative on a ‘struggles to fame’ type of theme. Including difficulties that you face in real life, for example self doubt, friendship, relationships, acceptances, and chasing your dreams.
I want the film to be very realistic and high in verisimilitude's ‘Nowhere Boy’ and ‘Jersey Boys’ are based on real people and real life stories. Although in ‘Jersey Boys’ the director Clint Eastwood challenges verisimilitude by breaking the fourth wall. The characters talk directly to the audience which I think is a great use of cinematography which I might use in my own short film. Breaking the fourth wall evidently breaks verisimilitude but helps to convey the narrative.
