Why are Marxist-Leninists similar to Nazis? & why Anarchists should oppose left unity
Hello! It’s me, this is an educational post about a popular ideology very similar to national socialism that the left seems to tolerate for some reason, Marxist-Leninists
1: Authoritarianism
This is probably the most obvious & well-known similarity between Marxist-Leninists & the Nazis, both believed in strong, centralized hierarchical governments restricting freedom of expression, believing that this necessary to protect & advance their ideological goals, repressed free human movement through borders, banned ideologies & ideas that tje governing parties deemed evil/counter to their ideological projects etc
2: Militarism
Both Nazis & MLs worshipped the military & had highly militaristic regimes, glorifying a patriarchal ideal of a white military man, with grand military marches full of flags & tanks, wrote various songs, invaded other nations (even other Marxist ones that escaped or challenged their influence, Czechoslovakia & hungary come to mind)
3: workerism
Both glorified work, & the ideal of the white, muscular, man who worked in factories, both made propaganda posters about this imagined ideal, the soviets glorified the proletariat despite being communists, true communists would aim for proletarian self-abolition viewing the lifestyle of the proletariat as a horrendous one brought about by capitalistic exploitation rather than glorifying it
4: Nationalism
Both the Nazis & Soviet’s are highly nationalistic, the Leninist Communists failed to ever challenge or abolish the nationstate, just like marriage or the nuclear family or the commodity form or any other aspect of capitalist reality, the states they formed were clearly nationstates, with flags anthems & coat of arms, even the flags were based on preexisting national flags
5: Patriarchal
Both Marxist-Leninism & Nazism are very patriarchal, Nazis believe women are simply subjects to men, who are the true carriers of the nation, Marxism-Leninism is similarly a male supremacist ideology, based on the “5 heads of marxism” all of which are male, based on glorification of the male solder & male worker, we already covered that in other sections
6: genocide
Both Marxist-Leninists & Nazis have engaged in ethnic/cultural genocides, Nazis killed millions in eastern europe & in concentration camps, particularly Jews & romani people but many others were victims, the Soviet’s engaged in “decossickazation” in the late 1910s/early 1920s, killing & exiling thousands of cossacks, not as many as the nazis but a genocide is a genocide even if less are killed, the holodomor is worth mention but wh
7: Cultural supremacy
The soviet union firmly believed in russian cultrual superiority, making Russian language mandatory in non-russian areas, trying to “russify” the lifestyles of indigenous people in siberia, overall cultrual diversity was seen as a bad thing, most propaganda posters depict european/russian people despite the union being home to many different ethnic groups
8: Centralized
The soviets & Nazis both believed highly authoritarian, centralized, societies lead by men were the strongest & most advanced societies, this ties back into other sections but what distinguishes this is how they specifically viewed centralization, they both saw centralized efficiency as the most advanced form of society, decentralized societies & practices were seen as more primitive
9: Industrial
Both believed that highly industrialized & urban societies were the future & peak of human development & culture, productivity was very important in both leninist & nazi cultures/nations, rather than developing a nuanced critique of industrial practices within capitalism, the Leninists thought capitalisms main problem was not being efficient enough in organizing production & growth
10: Anti-art:
Both the Nazis & ML regimes, such as the soviet union & Mao era China saw non-traditional art as a threat to common culture & society, viewing it as decadent or weakening, both had a policy of repressing artists & art within their respective territories, soviet realism, Mao talking about how Marxism suppresses artistic attitudes & Hitler ranting about “degenerate” art come to mind
So why should Anarchists oppose left unity: Because what Anarchists & Marxists want, especially Marxist-Leninists are antithetical, Marxists want centralized cultures, Anarchists don’t, Anarchists are against all authority, Marxists & Leninists simply aren’t, Marxists & MLs hate Anarchists, & anyone reading the works of Marxists & Leninists & coming to any other conclusion is either manipulative & lying about what these works say, didn’t read it well, or simply lying about reading them.
In conclusion, both Marxist-Leninists & Nazis have ideologies based on repression, authority, centralization, male supremacy, nationalism, & both desire a monolithic society, any “anarchist” who wants to unite with knowing all this abiut Marxism-Leninism them is as bad as them.
"Anarchism is when democracy, the more democracy a government has, the more anarchister it is"- Murray Bookchin
I love ts ship please
This may be splitting hairs but I think Marx and Engels never fully deconstructed their bourgeois thought and that's why they weren't anarchists.
I likely wouldn't have come to this conclusion without Stirner but I am no Stirnerite or post-leftie
If there's one thing all leftists are good at though it is splitting hairs. I stopped being part of political groups because they aren't really concerned with actually solving problems and in a way politics was my escapism from problems happening in my own personal life that I needed to focus on.
I think that's the problem of politics in relation to your personal psyche, you actively neglect what you need to fix for the sake of higher values and end up experiencing a complete burnout - a flame that burns through your soul and kills all within it.
"99% of politics is symptoms"
While the indifference of Jung cannot be applied easily to the politics, specifically of america, today I do think he was right.
