My word was PRONE. I'm using the next (and last) chapter of my Secret Santa fic, All Over Again for @cardigains, for this one, since it's what I'm currently trying to finish. (Yes, I am only just now finishing my 2024 Christmas fic, don't @ me.)
Probably still too cold for them, at this elevation. “Right here,” he tells her, easing her into another, smaller leather chair, then immediately grabbing its wooden legs and dragging it closer to the flames. One last time he ventured into the deepening twilight, with the bucket dangling from his hands. No, his hands remain steady, even as something primal begins to shift beneath his ribs. Even after he'd built a respectable pile, he kept going – trip after trip until his arms burned with fatigue and his legs felt like rubber, and the separate stack of firewood he’d started in the corner of the room towered far higher than was probably necessary.
