I had an interview today. It went well.

So why do I still have all this anxiety? I'm alphabetizing my DVD collection and compulsively fixing all the throw blankets and pillows on the couches. Alphabetizing the spice cabinet isn't a normal reaction to a good interview.

Behaviour scales

I conducted my first interview today over lunch. I took notes with pen and paper, rather than hiding behind a laptop (to keep things casual), as well as making use of the very handy voice record function of my iPhone. Overall, the conversation flowed nicely. There was a little skipping around because my informant was relaxed, and spoke freely across related topics as he got into the swing of things. The mood illustrations were a hit, and a perfect complement to my customer journeys. The interview went for 20 min (much shorter than I anticipated), and the summary notes were easy to make once I discovered these very useful scales:

Time aware vs time free

Quick visitor vs leisurely visitor

Avid reader vs occasional reader

Home user vs on-the-go user

Thanks to these, my preparatory readings and lecture, and my lovely informant, Mission #1 accomplished!
