FIVE: Designing Media Ecology / Issue 6: The Anthropocene and our Post-natural Future
I’m delighted to have contributed a short paper “‘Planetary’ Knowledge? Moving Beyond Internationalism” to one of the most intellectually exciting magazines from Tokyo. FIVE: Designing Media Ecology Issue 6 is on The Anthropocene and our Post-natural Future, edited by Prof Osamu Sakura (Evolutionary Biology and Science Communication) and the artist Andrew Yang. I wrote the piece with a hope to not only contribute to the beginning of the Anthropocene debates in the context of Japanese historiography on cultures of nature -- but also to critically re-assess and potentially revise our methods of theoretical knowledge practice and integration that are still too often trapped in the ‘West-to-East’ imperial conception. Please let me know if you are interested; I look forward to any suggestions and feedbacks. 今はまだ盛んに成されていない、日本の文脈を通したアンスロポセンの議論を新たに始めるきっかけの為だけでなく、現代知識を養う現場において、いまなお二極化されている視点に基づいた「西」から「東」への、一方的な流れとしての帝国主義的な知識のグローバリゼーションにおける危険性を見直すためのきっかけにもなれば、という願いも込めて執筆しました。英論文のみで恐縮ですが、ご興味がございましたら是非お声がけください。ご笑覧の上、ご意見・ご感想いただけましたら幸いです。
