Carefully, Leia picked her way off the dirt path, bordering the little watercourse so she could peer down below. The sight that greeted her felt like a physical blow, sudden, unexpected, violent. Princess Leia Organa was elegant in all aspects of life except one: sleeping. Han Solo could attest to Leia having two icicles for feet, which she would tuck into whatever part of him was closest to her. He could astound you with all the times she nearly suffocated him with her unruly nest of hair. He knew from experience she would steal your blanket and your pillow if you got up to use the fresher. He could disgust you with stories about the undignified princess drool he found puddled on his chest some mornings. He could tell you how peaceful Leia looked while she slept, making it inconceivable to wake her when she did all of these things. But Han won't tell a soul. You'll never find him complaining about sharing his bed with Princess Leia Organa.

The first time Leia saw Han cry was at their daughter's first day at daycare. "She thinks we're abandoning her," Han lamented as he clutched the sobbing toddler to his chest. Blinking away her own tears, Leia couldn't decide which one of them looked more distraught.

Mon Mothma was never Han Solo's biggest fan. In fact she spent the last 4(?) years trying to dissuade the Princess from returning the scoundrel's affections. He never seemed like a good fit for Leia. What did a Princess see in such an uncouth man? It was a mystery until the secret of Leia's parentage got out and Mon saw a maturity in Han Solo she did not think him capable of. He was supportive when Leia was unsure, calming when Leia was angry, a distraction when Leia was overwhelmed, and openly sardonic to anyone who judged Leia based on who her father was. Han did not view things in a political sense, so he had no qualms telling people exactly what he thought about them disrespecting Leia. Perhaps Han Solo was exactly the right man for Leia.

Han was an orphan who never got adopted. Leia was an orphan with the most loving adoptive parents a child could ask for. Their very different experiences lead them both to the same decision; they want to adopt a child.

I've always had this headcanon of a time early in Han and Leia's marriage where they get into a tiff and Leia announces she is going to spend the night on the Falcon, and Han is comically relegated to remaining in their apartment.

I'd like to see a post ROTJ fic, of any plot type, where Han and Leia have decided not to have children-not because of Vader or anyone's career, but just because that's a valid choice too!

Hair. Everywhere. In his food. In his shower. In his mouth. So much HAIR. Han goes from living with a wookie to living with a princess and things are not so different.
