So I’m catching up on Potterfic Weekly, as you do, and there’s a scene with a gunfight.* Which leads off on a tangent about guns in fic, and one of the crew mentions a fic in which Molly gets shot by the Grangers. “Wait,” I thought, “surely they’re not talking about Knowledge is Power here.” And indeed they were.
(They weren’t impressed by the fact that it has Molly calling Hermione a Mudblood. As well they shouldn’t.)
* I’ve read the fic they’re covering (“To Shape and Change”, a time travel fic where Harry sends Snape into the past) and it’s good. And that scene is one of the few examples I’ve seen of guns in Potterfic actually being handled well; I’m not convinced that Tom Riddle, being Muggle-raised and with a tendency towards violence, wouldn’t know what a gun was, but aside from that it works.
