Describe your characters wand.

Hawthorn and dragon heartstring, 12 inches, surprisingly swishy

Would your character be a part of the Order of the Phoenix, or would they be a Death Eater?

Literally neither. 

If your character were to make a horcrux, what would they hide a piece of their soul in?

Something resilient and unassuming which he would then hide further in something like a hollowed out book or.. something. I’ve literally been contemplating this for hours and this is the best I could come up with. Really though, he wouldn’t ever make one because he gets the adrenaline from facing death head on.. he wouldn’t get as much pleasure if he knew he had a backup plan…

What is your characters favourite magical creature?

Dragons, easily. That said, he also has an odd fascination with Occamy and their eggs.

Would your character have participated in the Battle of Hogwarts and how well do you think they would have faired? 

Ha ha no. If he was still at Hogwarts (which he wouldn’t’ve been seeing as he would actually be a year or two behind Tonks and Charlie Weasley) but if he was, he’d’ve been one of the (albeit few) Hufflepuffs that cleared out.

1: Which Hogwarts House would your character be in?

This is the only question that I think is genuinely easy, because I am 100% sure for both of them.

Richard would be in Hufflepuff.

Jim would be in Slytherin.

I have zero doubts.

2: What would your character’s patronus be?

Richard’s would probably be a rabbit, like if he were an animagus, or if he had a daemon.

Jim— you saw my problem picking his animagus form. I’m going to go with magpie for the sake of argument, but I have, like, five different options.

4: What would a boggart turn into if your character faced one?

Jim’s would be his father. Absolutely. Every time. No matter how old he is, it will always be his father.

Richard’s, depending on the verse, might be Severin yelling at him and threatening him, but probably moreso something relating to drowning or just oblivion. Possibly, the boggart would make the entire room go dark. Richard is most afraid of disappearing.

5: What would your character see in the Mirror of Erised?

Richard would see himself happy, free of his depression and his woes, with a spouse and children and a dog, and a successful acting career, not disappointing anyone, just being happy and alive and loved.

Jim would see himself on top of the world. Fears conquered, having climbed over everyone and everything in his way. Either that, or he would see Sherlock. His ultimate opponent. His ultimate puzzle. His ultimate challenge. Possibly, he would see himself defeating Sherlock.

6: What would be your character’s favorite subject at school?

Richard would be really good at Charms as well as Herbology, but probably enjoy Care of Magical Creatures the most. 

Jim would be pretty good at pretty much anything he set his mind to, but he would succeed the most in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Charms. Care of Magical Creatures and Divination would be his weakest subjects. Animals hate him and he hates them. His problems with Divination would be the same as Hermione’s.

16: What animal would your character have, if any?

Richard would have a cat omg. <3 He’d have a big sweet fluffy kitty who would crawl on his lap when he was freaking out about things. A big dark orange tabby girl kitty. And her name would be Ginger. And Richard would love her and she would love Richard and alsd;jkflsjg.

Jim would have an owl, because he can stand owls more than most animals. It’d be a big, pretentious-looking Eagle Owl. They would have exactly the same expression of disdain all the time.

Seriously. Look up an Eagle Owl and tell me that is not the most condescending fucking bird you have ever seen in your life.

18: What would Amortentia smell like to your character?

Richard’s would smell sweet and soft, like freshly-baked cookies and early spring mornings and newly-blooming flowers, clear and subtle and gentle.

Jim’s would smell strong and dark, like spices and leather and musk and gunpowder and just a little bit of blood, but there would be something oddly rich under it, cool instead of hot-smelling like the rest of it, something intrinsically difficult to describe.

19: What is your character’s favourite magical creature?

Jim doesn’t like magical creatures, but he would FUCKING LOVE dragons. Oh, yes. Jim would have a thing for dragons. Jim would want to own a dragon. Jim would probably smuggle a dragon’s egg into the castle and try to raise it on his own. It would not go well.

Richard likes pretty much all the magical creatures, tbh, but he’d have a very deep connection with unicorns.

3: What form would your character take if they were an animagus?

THIS IS ACTUALLY SO HARD UH

Well, Richard would be a rabbit, obviously, but Jim—

This is like picking his daemon oh god

He would either be a black fox, a snake, or a magpie. Maybe a raven. MAYBE a black panther if he were going for something he’d actually want to use to fight in a serious way. But fox or magpie would be most probable, those are usually the two I go back and forth for with his daemon. But snake’s also not improbable.

I have literally put so much thought into this and I still can’t decide. Like, hours of thought. You have no idea.

8: Would your character be a part of the Order of the Phoenix, or would they be a Death Eater?

Richard would probably be in the Order.

Jim would be in neither. He doesn’t follow orders. If anything, he would be Voldemort, or a similar rendition. But he’s nobody’s goddamn lackey, and he’s certainly not a do-gooder.

12: Would your character be pureblood, half-blood, or come from a non-magical family?

I have a long-standing headcanon that Jim is Muggleborn.

15: Describe your character’s wand.

Richard’s would be shorter and rather slender, delicate, and with a unicorn hair core. Like. Come on guys. Richard and unicorns. Think about it. Uggghhh. <3 It could be rowan or vine wood, but I’m really thinking it would be willow. Willow resonates as perfect for Richard. He’d be really attached to his wand.

Jim’s would be longer, and DEFINITELY dragon heartstring, like zero doubt about that — if you look up the properties of dragon heartstring wands, they fit him perfectly. Part of me wanted to say phoenix feather because it’s ~special~ and everything, but Jim totally wouldn’t have the patience for a phoenix feather wand. 

I’ve literally spent way too long thinking about Jim’s wand wood and trying to narrow it down, because right now I’ve got elder, hawthorn, maple, pine, sycamore, walnut, and yew. Hear me out for a sec. Elder is a really unusual and rare wand wood that has an unlucky but powerful reputation (hence the Elder Wand, which is not the ONLY Elder Wand but is probs the source of the rep), and I feel like that would go well with Jim. But hawthorn wands are best for those who experience inner turmoil or conflict, and Jim has a fuckton of that. Maple wands are for the ambitious and get progressively prettier the more successful their master becomes, and pine is suited for the independent, individual, mysterious loners, which Jim definitely is (although it also says pine wielders live long lives, and we all know that Jim will die fairly young in all probability). Sycamore wands are all about not getting bored and insist on new challenges, which is 100% Jim, but walnut wands are good for the highly intelligent and dangerous in the hands of those without a moral compass, which would be a neat dynamic. Lastly, yew wands have a dark association, and also one with power.

I am leaning towards elder, or sycamore. But I haven’t made up my mind, and I’ve been going through Ollivander’s descriptions of woods for like twenty minutes and I’m just going to make myself stop now.
