Outside my Metro station. Had to go outside because I felt slightly claustrophobic but it's amazing to see all this! Major props to the people of L.A. for coming out of the woodwork to march for love and union. I love this city.

There’s still a little hopeful part of my brain that thinks Congress will see the panic that the world has shown at the prospect of a Trump presidency after one day, and decide to respect the popular vote result rather than the electoral college result… So if you live in a state that went to Trump, please write, email, and call your representatives and beg them to consider changing their vote.

No more speculating reactions surrounding electorate results;

No more trying to incite hope in the U.S. political system
In those BURNED by Obama;

No more pretending to have forgotten that just as the descendants of
Slaves still walk this land,
So, too, do the progeny of SLAVE OWNERS;
November 8 done come and gone
No more pretending that, just as America was BUILT on violence,
So, too, will it CRUMBLE under the weight of violence, self-inflicted;

No more forgetting that even a phoenix must BURN before it can RISE;

No more denying the fact that there exists a plethora of poor, rural whites
Who will gladly vote AGAINST their own interests so long as it
Allows for admission into the doors restricted to republicans and
Propped open by white privilege;

No more forgetting that people LIE about for whom they will cast their ballot;
November 8 done come and gone
No more mourning the JUSTICE,
Miscarried and born DEAD to a weeping yet relieved young Mother America;
November 8 done come and gone
No more overlooking the fact that for Blacks and Natives, the struggle will
Proceed, on schedule, just as it always has;
November 8 done come and gone
No more pretending that POLITICS is anything but;
November 8 done come and gone
No more casting a blind eye to the pure hatred that boils
Beneath the veneer of cracked smiles and insincere “How are you?”s
Which permeate the souls of more Americans than most would
Prefer to admit;

No more knowing NOT that all 50 of America’s states and her 13 original
Colonies are in fact, the laughing stock of the developed world;
November 8 done come and gone
No more forgetting the FIGHT that must continue if anger, melancholy and Disappointment are to ultimately be TRANSMUTTED into HOPE, LIGHT and EVOLUTION!!!
The truth is that I’ve never spoken of who *is* or who *isn’t* my president due to the very obvious fact that I am a BLACK WOMAN in America; I aint NEVER had a president!
You can still make a change!
I see a lot of “we’re fucked”, “it’s over”, cynicism, and suicide hotlines being distributed all over the internet. Please don’t give up hope, don’t lose strength. Take a deep breath and realise you still have the power to make changes in your country, and you’re even stronger when you stand together. Realise that you have friends and people who are also going through politcal turmoil back in their countries, who empathise with you right now. I do.
Sometimes external things don’t work out in your favour, and that’s unavoidable. We can’t always control how other people react, and the sooner you accept this, the sooner you can act. Your agency is still your own. You are still 100% in control of yourself, your mind, your thoughts - and nothing can take away your good nature.
